Monitoring/
Data Collection
Infrastructure Initiatives monitors and collects data to quantify water-use and water loss in municipal, multi-residential, and ICI sectors. It temporarily supplies and installs equipment to record flow or pressure as well as collects data from other sources. Specializing in District-Metered Areas (DMAs) it completes leak detection surveys which identify suspected leak noise in the municipal distribution system. It will also pinpoint leak locations.

Validation/
Field Testing
Infrastructure Initiatives stresses validation to recognize gaps, errors, and uncertainties. Field-testing (e.g.,hydrant flow tests) is often used to validate the monitoring equipment as well as hydraulic models, or validate the results of top-down exercises like the AWWA's Standard Water Balance. Validation also refers to pinpointing the suspected leak locations using leak noise correlators or alternative, and emerging technologies.

Analyses/
Reporting
Infrastructure Initiatives offers a range of reporting on raw data as well as its own analyses. Written reports, maps and presentations are used to document result, quantify water-use, water loss, and reductions in each. Municipal water balances are presented using recognized tools like the AWWA's water audit software. It also prepares reports or applications related to billing disputes or wastewater abatement programs.

ABOUT
Steve Genser is the sole proprietor of Infrastructure Initiatives. He completes projects or specific tasks related to water-use and water loss management.
Steve will collaborate with project partners and clients in both the municipal and private sectors to profile flow and pressure in water and wastewater systems, compile data and identify components of water supplied or billed consumption.
He offers more than 20 years of experience in designing and implementing a variety of monitoring exercises, and temporarily supplies and installs equipment as required. Monitoring exercises can include field-testing (e.g., hydrant-flow tests, C-factor tests) to calibrate the equipment as well as validate data being collected. The results of monitoring as well as field testing are used to validate assumptions, audit a water balance, or calibrate hydraulic models.
Flow data also illustrates excess demands or water losses. Infrastructure Initiatives is capable of completing leak-noise surveys, and following-up to pinpoint the sources of leak-noise including the locations of recoverable losses. It advocates flow-monitoring be used to quantify leakage as well as water savings following repairs. Working with other service providers Infrastructure Initiatives can coordinate as well as participate in the use of alternative equipment or emerging technologies in addition to its own listeners and leak noise correlator.
